Another solid outing from Blackie and the boys
While this album may not be ground breaking, it is however a solid showing. Blackie plays to his strengths and weaves haunting melodies and full on rock extravaganzas, while his voice sounds in top form. While i'm not a huge fan of remakes, i sill think wasp's paint it black is one of the best, i find myself loving "promised land". a fast full on explosion of rock and roll at its best. If youre a wasp fan you wont be disappointed, if youre not one give it a try.
AWESOME ALBUM
Every song sounds superb beginning with the song Crazy. If you like the dominator last command and headless children albums you will like this album very much. The guitars and vocals are flawless, probably the best wasp album in years.
Crazy has great lyrics and guitars its easy to play this song alot.
Live To Die Another Day has great lyrics giving you truth in it. The moral of it is to be grateful for every day you have so make the most of everyday, cause you never know if its your last.
Babylon's Burning is a song about rapture and destruction another awesome song with good guitar riffs.
Burn awesome remake of the Deep Purple hit with good guitars except theres no keyboard and sytheisizers in it.
Into The Fire is ok only because its a slow track
Thunder Red great guitar riffs and lyrics very fast and exciting
Seas of Fire very fun and the lyrics are dark and well written and the guitars riffs are good and fast
Godless Run is a slow song but very haunting which makes it awesome to listen to
Promised Land is a remake but 100x better the original because it fast and the way blackie sings this awesome you can understand easily which makes this a great closer. This song could easily be a single.
uneven record
For 25 years now I'm looking forward to hearing new material from WASP. So if not really original compared to other records (eg, KFD and Dying for the World), WASP continues in the same vein as their previous albums. Fans will not necessarily disappointed by this album, although in view of the cover I was expecting something more energizing / violent / black. WASP remains WASP and Blackie Lawless' talent still can be heard throughout this album, even if at times it feels like you've heard the material before... It is almost as if it was a medley of old albums. This album may be closer to than the previous Dominator. Track listing:
01. Crazy: An excellent track as an opener for this album. The best song.
02. Live to die another day: title makes me think about Neon God.
03. Babylon's burning: typical WASP
04. Burn: Deep Purple resumed. I've heard it so many times that even sung by WASP, it's just unbearable.
05. Into the fire: "Slow" slong - I love the "slow" Blackie Lawless material.
06. Red Thunder: typical WASP
07. Seas of fire: typical WASP-even if it sounds like "Mercy".
08. Godless run: same comment as for # 5.
09. Promised Land: more "rock'n'roll" than metal or what WASP produces in general. I thought to myself that Elvis Presley could have sung that one...and since originally it's Chuch Berry song, I was not too far off (reading the cd's booklet helps!).
Duration: 43 minutes. So a somewhat uneven production (tracks 4 and 9) and as for the previous album a bit short. But between Babylon and no WASP album, I'll take Babylon without hesitation. But not worth than 3 stars.
