Family Time is Ziggy Marley s third solo album and first full-length offering especially for children and families. Marley produced the album with legendary producer Don Was, known for his Grammy®-winning work with such artists as Bonnie Raitt as well as with his own hit-making group, Was (Not Was). With original songs newly-composed by Marley himself, the album features a variety of family and friends as guests including Rita Marley (Ziggy s mother), Cedella Marley (sister), Judah Marley (daughter), Paul Simon, Jack Johnson, Willie Nelson, Toots Hibberts (of Toots and the Maytals), Elizabeth Mitchell, Laurie Berkner, Paula Fuga and two stories narrated by Jamie Lee Curtis. Growing up music was an important part of my childhood, Marley says. I see it being just as important in my children and all children growth and development. Music helps children to grow with open minds and open hearts and this is my message. This record represents my daily family life and is inspired by my three-year-old daughter Judah and baby Gideon. It was a joy to make and opened up new avenues in my creativity. Family Time is for all families and especially the world family. Ziggy has contributed to a variety of children s programming including Nick Jr. s Dora the Explorer, the PBS children s show Arthur, and the animated film Shark Tale, in which he played the character of Bernie the Jamaican jellyfish and re-recorded his father s Three Little Birds with Sean Paul and his brother Stephen Marley for the soundtrack.

Okay i really bought this for me!!!
Hopefully my husband won't see this review because he thinks I buy all my music for the kids...well this CD is just as much for me as my kids. The lyrics are positive, upbeat, not to kidish or adultish. The music is upbeat and easy to listen to. Your kids/or you can listen to this as background music or better yet in the car. Ziggy collaborates with Judah, Rita, and Cedella marley. Jack Johnson, Willie Nelson (is he still alive), Paul Simon, LAURIE BERKNER, and Jamie Lee Curtis are guests on this delightful album.
It will remind you to appreciate your childern...or allow you to transport yourself to a different place if your kids are yelling in the backseat and all you can do is turn up the volume alittle more. It is very enjoyable!! A easy five stars. The album is upbeat with little downtime. Love it!
I got this to have something that is adult and kid friendly for the car and I love it! My almost two year old shakes his head and dances to it too. I would definitely recommend it and actually already have to a friend who loves it too. The song "I love you too" brings tears to my eyes as a mother. We listen to it all the time! Very Good
Ziggy Marley really made something special here in a children's album that works also for adults. Though his roots and lineage is obvious as the son of a legen, he takes it to a new direction by making a straight forward family album.
He is joined by many stars, including some of his family members and stars in the music field such as Paul Simon and Jack Johnson (an always welcome sound for my daughter who also loved Curious Gearge soundtrack.

Finally! Music for the entire family to enjoy! I bought this CD for my grandson who absolutely loves it. The music is truly family oriented and in Ziggy Marley style. With this CD, my grandson made the connection between Bob and Ziggy and now wants to hear the music "from Bob's son". Fun listening! Pleasant Surpise - It is Family Time!
This cd was given to us as a gift and what a wonderful gift it has been. Our 4 year old son adores the reggae beats and loves to sing along. My 1 year old daughter however can't stop dancing as soon as we put it on- she hears the drum beat opening of the 1st song and starts moving! We couldn't love this cd more; especially for the quality "family time" it provides. I even catch myself listening to it when my kids are not with me!! |
