Simple Dreams
Simple Dreams

On its face, Simple Dreams seems a crazy quilt of styles, from the friendly country-rock remake of Buddy Holly's "It's So Easy," the brooding covers of Roy Orbison's "Blue Bayou," and Dolly Parton's "I Never Will Marry" to dissolute tales of rock & roll madness like the Rolling S...
Hasten Down the Wind
Hasten Down the Wind

After the critical and commercial smash Heart Like a Wheel, Linda Ronstadt could have had her pick of material from the day's top songwriters. Instead, she chose the wares of a couple of young artists on the rise, Warren Zevon and Karla Bonoff. Each provided her with first-rate m...
Prisoner in Disguise
Prisoner in Disguise

"Hey mister, that's me up on the jukebox," Linda Ronstadt sings on her 1975 album Prisoner in Disguise, and it was no idle boast. The album yielded two of her finest singles, thanks to the retooled Motown classics "Heat Wave" and "Tracks of My Tears." The album's support material...
Heart Like a Wheel
Heart Like a Wheel

It's often said that this 1974 set, Ronstadt's true commercial breakthrough after a half decade's worth of minor hits, set the formula for the platinum successes to follow: some underrecognized singer/songwriter jewels, a couple of semi-obscure early rock tunes, always with somet...

Don't Cry Now
Don't Cry Now

While Don't Cry Now is Linda Ronstadt's fourth solo album, it has the feel of a sophomore release. Perhaps that's due to the albums that bookend this 1973 outing: it was preceded by a self-titled collection that signaled the big-voiced, doe-eyed singer's move away from country to...

Reviews:

White Rhythm and Blues
I bought this album years ago when it first came out because I loved Simple Dreams so much; however, in all honesty, there are only two great songs on it--Ooo Baby, Baby--Ronstadt surpasses the Miracles version, but everyone knows that because everyone's heard it. But the main reason I bought this cd again is the JD Souther ballad "White Rhythm and Blues." It's one of her best songs.

More of 80s Linda
Living In The USA is Linda moving into the 80s and she does just fine. There are some great songs on this album and some rock a little more than previous releases.

Great album, poor-sounding transcription
I love Ronstadt! What pipes! Great interpretations of great songs. This album is responsible for seriously launching skating as an outdoor sport - the LA County beach bike path was empty one week, and jammed with skaters a week after this album was released. (Who says Americans aren't sheep?) One of the poorest CD recordings I've heard. Don't know why.

An Album Released In 1978 And Still Going Strong!!!
This is another excellent album from Ms. Ronstadt which was released in the wild, reckless days of my youth and sounds as fresh today as it did back then. My favourite track on this album would have to be the wistful "Mohammed's Radio and "White Rhythm And Blues "comes in as a close second. Once again guitarist Waddy Wachtel plays on this album and his guitar work is always a delight to hear. For those of you who ae still befuddled by the pronouciation of this guy's surname it is "Wok-Tell" as in the Chinese Kitchen Frypan!!!

Linda Ronstadt's second megahit!
HEART LIKE A WHEEL was a #1 smash. HASTEN DOWN THE WIND never made it to the Top 20. This follow-up did, though. Memorable songs include the hits BACK IN THE U.S.A. and covers of The Miracles' OOH BABY BABY and Doris Troy's JUST ONE LOOK. Another memorable song is MOHAMMED'S RADIO,written and originally recorded by the late Warren Zevon,Linda Ronstadt's Asylum Records labelmate. The other songs are good.
