      Ocean Eyes

Prodcut Description: [More Information ...]
2009 sophomore release from the Minnesota-based Electro-Rock outfit AKA singer/songwriter Adam Young. While his music continues to win followers all over the world, Adam does indeed hide behind his music, not going by his real name (See: Badly Drawn Boy and Dashboard Confessional); but going by the moniker Owl City. Loaded with amazing loops, catchy pickups, and lyrics that soothe the mind and touch the heart, Adam Young has once again created a lush listening experience. Owl City's trademark desire to escape in dreams, oceans and sky abound on songs such as 'Cave In' and 'Umbrella Beach.' With glorious vocal harmonies and touching odes to love lost, Adam has dug more deeply on Ocean Eyes, lyrically and musically, than ever.

Reviews:

Awesomeness.
Imagine that you're in your favorite place in the world, with your favorite people ever. Focus on that feeling that you get when you're there. That pure, innocent happiness. That's the feeling you get when you listen to Owl City. It's crazy to say, but I just feel so nice when I hear his music. I work at a Sonic Drive-In and let me tell you it's a pretty stressful job, but when I hear "Fireflies" start playing on the radio I'm instantly in a better mood. If you want something different and something to perk you up get this album.

ocean eyes: like soaking in a hot tub after a long day at work
Owl city's Adam Young has done it again, Ocean Eyes is a masterpiece in happyness making, trust me I tried not to be while listening it did'nt work. While some may mistake Adam for Ben Gibbard there is a distinct difference that separates them, Adam has a much more happy tone none of his song are ever sad, plus he has a more clearer tone. This album packs many synth gems that very easy on the ears and very addicting once you listen to them. There are some returning champs to this album, but if you have listened to both like I have there are minescule differnces. Matt Thiesen's contribution to this album was golden, the bird and the worm, tidal wave, and fireflies are some of my favorites, he did vocals for cave in as well. If you have'nt heard it already The saltwater room is a beautiful duet done by Adam and Breanna Duren whose voice almost sounds angelic, and mixes with Adam's like a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich, it could melt any heart. Dental Care and the bird and the worm have a big fun side to them if you can catch the puns(it not that hard) they are very enjoyable. As for the bonus tracks The hello seatle remix is nothing like the original it in itself is a good song, he uses it at concert openings. If my heart was a house is another beautiful love song that is very enticing. Vanilla Twilight would cature any girl heart, and would go perfectly for expressing your true feelings to a girl, and a good make up song. Ocean eyes is lovely album that is a silver tounged devil that will caress your ears for hours upon hours and persuade you to go your happy place, and make you ditch your dismay. " Bombs away":)

This Album Rocks
I first heard "Fireflies" on the Radio and it caught my attention. I had no idea who sang it, but I immediately loved that song. I started doing some research, and saw that it was Owl City, AKA Adam Young, and was intrigued by his Story. I looked at the reviews of the Album on here and on I-Tunes, and almost every review is 5 Stars. I decided to download the entire Album, and Thank God I did. This Album is incredible from Start to Finish. I was looking for something a little different, a new sound, a new Voice and I found it with this Album. I am somewhat Familiar with "The Postal Service," and I realize that Owl City draws those Comparisons... but to me, this is Original/Fresh Music. The Composition of the Music is Incredible/ The Production is Outstanding (Sounds great on a nice system), and Adam's Lyrics and Voice are incredible. These songs have provided inspiration, and when I listen to it, I have thoughts about my Past, my Present, and My Future. This Album takes you away to your own little Fairy Tale World... it's an escape. I do not know of Many Albums where I have liked every single song and this one Comes Damn Close (I am not a big fan of "Dental Care"). You can just let this Album go, and it's good from start to Finish. I had my Favorite Tracks at first, but the more I listen to it, the more my Favorites seem to change. It's Crazy. Not only is this the Best Album I have heard from 2009... this very well could be my Favorite Album of All time. It's that good.

Best one yet!
I love Owl City, and this cd just made his music even more exciting for me. I absolutely love this cd. You should definitely buy it!

I can't get these lyrics out of my head...
"I wish I could cross my arms and cross your mind Cause I believe you'd unfold your paper heart and wear it on your sleeve All my life I wish I broke mirrors instead of promises" ~ Tidal Wave Owl City's "Ocean Eyes" is instantly compelling although at first you may think you are listening to "Ben Gibbard." Adam Young's voice is similar but seems to have a much more vibrant clarity. The lyrics on "Ocean Eyes" are some of the most creative I've ever heard in this lifetime. They are at times magical and at other times profound. Each song is catchy in its own way. "Hello Seattle" is one of those songs you won't be able to get out of your head once you listen to it six times. I like the way the song takes off into a subtle ecstasy and then comes to a startling halt. It leaves you wanting more which is why "Umbrella Beach" starts almost instantly sending you on wave after wave of tantalizing beats. You can't help but feel happy while listening to this music. I love "The Saltwater Room" with its romantic melodies which are so pure and beautiful. Breanne Duren's voice mingles with Adam Young's voice in such a sweet intimacy it is addictive. "Meteor Shower" is stunning even though it is the shortest song on the album. In my opinion it ends too soon. "On the Wing" has some unique moments at the start that sound like a bird's wings beating. You get the feeling you are flying above some vast forest with the night sky as a backdrop. I always get the feeling that I want to turn this song up to full volume. "Fireflies" is purely a fun song that feels magical and seems born of Adam Young's issues with insomnia. One part of the song always makes me laugh. "The Tip of the Iceberg" is a much more relaxed song with amazing vocals by Melisa Morgan. It ends with a dancy pop reverie. "Vanilla Twilight" is romantic and ecstatic in places. In "Tidal Wave" Matthew Thiessen and Adam Young's voices are so similar it is almost impossible to tell them apart. I think this is a great song to end the album because it seems to give you hope. Of course when the album is over you may feel the urge to listen to the songs again. In fact they can be rather addictive. I've listened to this album on two headphones and the Sennheiser headphones make this sound incredible. The AKG headphones were also fairly good but the Sennheiser seems to reveal some of the "sparkly" magic in the music. ~The Rebecca Review
