Since making his recording debut in 2005, Trey Songz has patiently and artfully crafted some of the most acclaimed and compelling R&B music of the decade. His first two Songbook Entertainment/Atlantic albums, 'I GOTTA MAKE IT' (2005) and 'TREY DAY' (2007), yielded a trio of top ten singles, 'Girl Tonight,' 'Last Time,' and 'Can't Help But Wait.' And when the latter song garnered Trey a coveted Grammy nomination for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance, it marked the validation of the faith shown in Trey by the late Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun, who hailed him as one of 'the most promising R&B artists we have had since we started the company 60 years ago.' Now, with the 2009 release of 'READY,' Trey Songz is more than ready to claim his place in the pantheon of R&B greats. From the street single, 'Brand New,' to his self-described male version of Mary J. Blige's 'Be Without You' in 'One Love,' the Virginian draws on a range of influences to craft an album that will thrill his longtime fans and happily surprise all newcomers to the Trey Songz story. Indeed, with its blend of hip-hop, R&B, and pop - exemplified by tracks like 'Black Roses,' where Trey croons over a distorted guitar - 'READY' demonstrates his growth on every front. The third time around, Trey displays a new vocal maturity combined with his renowned ability to twist notes and keys effortlessly, while presenting an increasing breadth of subject matter.

Reviews:

I like it but not his best work
Ok so before i get into my review on the album i just wanted to say that i am a big trey songz fan and love his music but i feel that ready was an average album i am not saying it wasnt good but i personally feel his other two were better my reason for thinking this is because GOTTA MAKE IT was a really nice peace of work a very soulful album and a album i feel that was not given the props it deserved TREY DAY was a good album as well had alot of good songs that i can honestly say i can listen to all the way and not skip a single song and i dont know if alot of you know this but another song was supposed to be on the album called HI Definition and alot of people loved this song and wanted it to be on the album but they changed the name and put the title Hi Def on another song that trey did and sadly the original Hi Def was never released and was never finished but i think that song would have made Trey Day a better album then it already was now lets get to the album READY i loved a couple of songs on the album such as Jupiter Love and Love Lost Successful,I Need A Girl, and Invented Sex are songs every one played before the album so i heard them way to much to even really care for them like that i really didnt like that fact Brand New wasnt on the album i didnt really get why he didnt put that on and LOL :) was just a random song thrown into the rotation that really messed up the whole feeling of the album i would have understood if that song was on a mix tape but i think that song is not a album worthy song at least not for trey i understand that solja boy and gucci man are big with alot of people but its just something about the song that dose not seem right but i seriously think the main reason i feel this way about the album is because when trey came out with Anticipation there were so many good songs on there that it made me aswell as other people say "man trey songz is really coming with some heat on his mix tapes i wonder if his album is going to sound like this" so with that being said the Anticipation mixtape gave us a sense of excitement for Ready but only to find that the album could not live up to the mix tape hype it sorta feels like he dropped the ball on that one but to be honest i understand why the album came out like it did for Trey Songz this is his real brake into the mainstream world and his chance to get the light shined on him also the label wants him to sell so i figure there are some songs they woudnt want on the album but all im saying is that Trey Songz is a talented artist and should have came out with some better songz or maybe taken some songs from his mixtape and put it on the album maybe that would have made it a better album to listen to but again its my opinion i hope others like his album but for those who think its ok we will have to just look forward to his next album or look out for more mixtapes

It's A Panty Dropper:)
As usual Trey put it down. I have no complaints about this album. I'm completely satisified. Keep up the GREAT work. Keep making MUSIC, love songs, real songs:) I love you Trey, lol

Love it!
Just like others have said I believe Trey Songz has went unnoticed for too long but with ths cd I believe he will be leaving his mark. I can listen to this cd from beginning to end. I love it!

He been Ready!!!
This album is on point from start to finish!!My favorite song is "Does he do It".Personally I think he is replacing R.Kelly in the bedroom. This dude has talent for real!!!

Not safe for kids - Otherwise AWESOME
This is the best CD I've purchased in a long time. I took a road trip over the Labor Day weekend and this was a wonderful CD to travel to. I only have one issue... Some of the content is very, very sensual (which i really liked) but too much for the 13 year old that I had in the car wtih me. I had to skip those songs. This is the reason that i gave it 4 instead of 5 stars. Otherwise, this is a very solid CD. With the exception of a few more hip hop based songs, this is the PERFECT music for a romantic evening. While Trey is a very talented artist, it is easy to tell who his influences are. Ready to Make Love - sounds a lot like Maxwell. Yo Side of the Bed - has Prince written all over it. But both are very beautiful pieces. On a couple of the tracks, you could easily mistake him for R Kelly (Hollalude). My favorites are Neighbors Know My Name - 4/5 stars One Love - 4/5 stars Ready to Make Love 5/5 stars (Maxwell inspired) Jupiter Love 4/5 stars Holla If You Need Me - 5/5 stars (My FAVORITE) Yo side of the Bed 5/5 Stars (MY FAVORITE -BEAUTIFUL!!!!)
