I bought this CD for my 17 year old daughter for Christmas and she absolutely LOVES it!

Jay-Z's discography is the definition of hit and miss & this is effort is the definition of the word. His discography is also followed by a pattern; one where all works of greatness will be followed by one of mediocrity. Blueprint 1 was followed by the noticeably lesser Blueprint 2. The legendary Black Album was followed by the forgotten missed opportunity that was Kingdom Come. And while this one is arguable, the concept album American Gangster is followed by Blueprint 3. Now, while I thought American Gangster's concept was whacked, the album had some excellent elements to it, and some stellar tracks. Blueprint 3 here is just a cohesive mess and seems to be more of a blueprint for disaster and disappointment than anything. Highlights Include: D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune) Empire State of Mind Real As It Gets But besides these highlights, the album so often peddles in mediocrity. As/in rap you can get a dime a dozen off any fool on the streets. 'Off That'? It's rhymes are of a cliche only matched by its generic sound. Even when the album really takes a chance with its sample on 'On To The Next One,' it's just wasted. When he's not riding the in the rut of creativity, he takes on 'A Star is Born' and 'Young Forever' which aims for something more personal and powerful than it is, but it just devolves into a cheesy mess. Then there's the songs that's just plain bad for any rapper, much less the Godfather, himself. 'Venus Vs. Mars' trades in the most distracting sample ever put to rap, and its only matched by its awful lyrics. But then again, it only gets worse with 'Hate,' which sounds like a reject off Kanye's last effort, mostly due to its sound, but also the lack of Jay-Z, since its mostly Kanye's track. Not only does it also have a distracting melody, but the lyrics are simply AWFUL. Not to mention, unimaginative and unintelligible. All words to describe this song and its lyrics. Simply awful. I also feel as if I should address the radio singles. 'Run This Town' takes a lot of chances, but it never works for me on any level, and again, it seems like a reject from Rihanna's album, and was shocked it was absent from her effort, and exclusively appears on here, since again, it's Rihanna's song, and Jay-Z is a backup singer at most. However, everything I've bashed the album for so far is simply the opposite for 'Empire State of Mind.' The guest spot compliments the song via a stellar vocal from Alicia Keys. The lyrics, while not original, are well-played by Jay-Z, and he actually has a pulse on this track, which is a lot more I can say for the rest of this misstep of an album. And perhaps its greatest achievement which the rest of the album fails to achieve: memorability. In fact, the sheer volume of dishearteningly bad tracks from the Godfather of Rap really make me question the man, and makes me question whether he's still got it. After all, the first Blueprint album is considered one of the best rap albums of all time, and while the 2nd one was a misstep, this one falls off the cliff to permanently soil the trilogy. More like a generic mixtape from an up and coming rapper from off the streets, The Blueprint 3 is arguably Jay-Z's worst album to date. Still, let's hope it's just the 'every other album is a bad album' rule of the Jay-Z discography.

The Blueprint 3 is Jay-Z's most recent album and it's been a big hit so far. It's been the number 1 album for 3 weeks in a row, and has sold over 1 million copies. The Blueprint 3 features 11 new hits and features artists such as Drake, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Rhiana and Alicia Keys. One thing that I liked about this album is the beat of the songs. This album is expensive selling at $18.99, but I think it's worth every dollar spent. This album could be found at your local target and other music stores. My first Jay-Z CD! Wow! I've been missing out!
I've never been a Jay-Z fan until recently. This Blueprint 3 is one of those CDs that you can put in and ride for days. I am now a Jay-Z fan!
