Jesse's new CD, THE RUMBA FOUNDATION, continues Jesse Cook's journey across time, space and sound. In the 1800s sailors traveled to Spain carrying a hot new rhythm from Cuba: Rumba. Gypsies took this infectious dance rhythm and created their own hybrid: "Rumba Flamenco." 150 years later, Jesse makes it a round trip by bringing Rumba Flamenco back to its roots, but modernized in what might be his strongest work yet. Jesse melds his trademark rumba flamenco style with the music of Cuba, Haiti and Columbia, among others. With all of the dazzling instru- mental pyrotechnics he employs, Jesse's emphasis is always on the melody and the infectious rhythms that make him an airplay favorite. Amidst all of his dazzling, soulful original compositions, Jesse adds as a special highlight a spectacular arrangement of Paul Simon's classic "Cecelia", an adaptation that is as creative and catchy as anything he's ever recorded.

Super talent
Jesse Cook is a virtuoso on the guitar. I had an opportunity to see him in person at Chico State University in California, and his CDs sold out quickly.
Very passionate! Very entertaining!

Jesse Cook, "The Rumba Foundation"
Once again, Jesse Cook proves that he is, indeed, as master of the flamenco/Latin style of music. His ability to grasp the rhythm, back-beats, and thread of musical logic throughout this latest CD is typical of the talent he possesses.
I've never been disappointed by the music Cook has released, nor at his live performances (the latest just a few weeks ago). If you have never heard this artist before, I strongly suggest you take some time to listen to a few cuts!
Jesse still Cook'in
I eagerly anticipated the arrival of The Rumba Foundation, having become an avid JC fan over the last few years. The music is a bit of a change in direction for him in many ways, taking on quite an organic, stripped down, traditional vibe in many ways, kind of Jesse's "Buena Vista" album in a way. There are so nice tracks on here inclucding some great ballads. However, probably not quite as much 'fire' as some other CDs. Cecilia will I'm sure do well, but I'm not sure it was the best choice of cover because of the perfection of Art and Paul's vocals on the orginal being very hard to get close to, although he's done a good job of it. Overall a good album, although Nomad and Free Fall remain my favourites. If you like Jesse's music, then check out this up and coming artist called Al Marconi ([...]) who shows a lot of similarities both compositionally and in his playing to Jesse. Meanwhile keep up the good work Mr Cook!
